Biography

Jans Rautenbach was a South African screenwriter, film producer, and director, regarded as a pioneer of modern South African cinema. Rautenbach's directorial debut, Die Kandidaat (1968), was controversial for its perceived criticism of the apartheid system and faced censorship.
