Als Kind habe ich die Zeichentrickserie von Alvin und die Chipmunks geliebt um den Animations-/Realfilmmix habe ich nach den schlechten Erfahrungen mit ähnlichen Filmen biser einen Bogen gemacht. Zu Unrech! Natürlich ist Alvin und die Chipmunks kein Meisterwerk. Natürlich präsentiert der Film keine komplexe Story. Und dennoch hat der Film mir Spaß gemacht. Die animierten Chipmunks fügen sich gut in den Film ein und „Earl“ Jason Lee weiß prima mit ihren zu agieren. Wenn die Chipmunks Chaos in der Wohnung von Lees Filmfigur Dave stiften oder ihren ersten großen Auftritt haben, dann schwingt natürlich ein Stück Kindheitserinnerung mit, aber ein Stück Kindheitserinnerung, die mit diesem Film angemessen in die Neuzeit transportiert wurde. Alvin und die Chipmunks ist somit seichte Unterhaltung, wenn es einfach mal ein relaxter Couchtag werden soll. [Sneakfilm.de]
