CinemaSerf:
OK, so someone got a buy one get one with Lou Ferrigno's last contract? Well, anyway, they decided to do the whole "Hercules" thing all over again only this time our wooden wonder has to track down the seven thunderbolts that have been pinched from his somewhat peeved father Zeus (Claudio Cassinelli). It turns out that the thieves are uncomfortably, and rather powerfully, close to home but we all have every confidence that our muscly powerhouse will thwart their plan and return his dad's shiny bolts. What really doesn't help this, is the drawn-on visual effects. They reminded me of the augmentations my geography teacher used to add to the overhead projector slides at school in the early 1980s. There is plenty of action, to be fair, but the dialogue and staging are all just too weak and the story offers little more than an excuse for some scantily clad folks to show off their fine frames whilst providing us with with little, if any, actual entertainment. There are plenty of Italian made films of this genre from the 1950s that were done on a fraction of the budget, but that are way more colourful, creatively designed and enjoyable to watch. If this is your type of film then maybe try one of them. I'd just as soon forget this one!
