What Others Said

MovieGuys: Superficially, Andor looks promising. It has a gritty quality, offering a more adult take on the Star Wars universe. It has decent actors too and at least for the first three episodes, the woke nonsense, I've come to associate with new Star Wars series, is largely absent. That said, what takes its place is, well, not a lot. Inertia is substituted for action and a meaningful story. Andor meanders about aimlessly. I was bored by the time I had reached episode two. My other problem is I don't trust the woke ideologues wont show their ugly heads, as soon as they think they have me roped in. Well, thankfully, it's not a risk I need take. I wont be watching this series. My time matters to me and spending it waiting incessantly for something to happen, isn't my idea of enjoyment. In summary, could have worked if it had a functional story and at least, a modest measure of action to move things along. Instead, it feels like a slow, uninspired, space soap opera, where "drama" is somehow supposed to carry the day, in what is a sci fi action adventure franchise.
sammmbennettt: After watching the two episode premiere of Ahsoka, and not feeling a great deal from it, I ended up going back and watching the first episode of Andor. And then just watched all of Andor again by accident 💀 Andor is incredible. I actually think it might be perfect. It’s Star Wars for adults. It’s such an angry show, it’s so bitter, so human, and powerful. Its story is so captivatingly intense and important. It’s so visceral and aggressive towards a system that feels like an overwhelming and impossible undertaking. It reaches a level of such emotional maturity, and compelling storytelling, it doesn’t actually FEEL like Star Wars when you watch it. And it just gets BETTER AND BETTER AS YOU WATCH IT?!?!? It’s just baffling to me that this came from Disney? The sheer QUALITY of this show feels like it could’ve been an HBO show or something. It shows what you can accomplish with actual sets and locations, and putting characters and storytelling ABOVE lore and fan service. You just feel things when you watch Andor. It challenges you as a viewer. It challenges your beliefs and compassion towards things, and questions your own morals of what is, and isn’t right. And I think that’s just so cool. It might just be… the best Star Wars… maybe ever?
